Grove Park Inn Wedding

One of my favorite locations is the Grove Park Inn for a wedding. The views are gorgeous and I just love the rock work! So beautiful! This is where Staci and Trey chose to have their wedding. Emotion is a huge part in telling a story of a wedding. Tears, laughter, and the seriousness can be shown with just a few images. I love this moment when Staci got her gift from Trey. The blue and green color palette they chose fits so well with the view!

A surprise proposal caught on camera!

Tyler contacted me a few months prior to a trip he was planning with his longtime girlfriend Lacy. He wanted to propose to her when they got to NC and wanted it captured so they could share the experience with friends and family back home. So we went to planning. He even had his hat shipped to me a few days prior so he could have it for the photos session we were going to have after she said yes. When I showed up to the Esmerelda Inn in Chimney Rock, I played it cool and acted as if I were photographing the Inn for a new brochure they were putting together, to advertise their wedding facilities. I asked the cute couple walking by if they wanted to be in the brochure and if they would mind posing by the waterfall for a few shots. Of course they were up for it...wink wink. Out back by the waterfall, the magic happened! He got down on one knee, her mouth dropped open, her hands curled up with excitement, he put the ring on...
and she said YES!!!!
Somebody was quite happy!


After a few minutes of letting it settle in, we answered all of Lacy's questions and explained how he had been planning this all along. She was so happy! They rode all the way on his Harley. We had to incorporate their love of riding with some of these. We had a few hours before sunset and had a great time playing around Lake Lure and Chimney Rock.

Lioncrest Wedding on Biltmore Estate

Stacy and Jason were one of my favorite couples and I just realized I hadn't blogged their fabulous wedding! It really was an honor to photograph their day. They kept me smiling all day long! Sharing this day with family and friends was most important to them. I love it when this is a big part of the couple's day.

When pets are a big part of your lives, how sweet is it to have them at your wedding! LOVE!

So that we had more time around the estate for photos, the couple opted for a first meet. I am torn as to which I like more, this or seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle. Each has its own special pull at my heart strings. Love this photo of Stacy! Isn't she gorgeous!How beautiful is this!
Having a 2nd photographer at the wedding adds that extra set of images at the wedding that just one person cannot always get. I love this shot as Stacy arrives to the front of the aisle with her dad.

The Flower Gallery of Asheville was given creative freedom with this wedding and look how amazing it turned out!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!


Jason and Stacy were naval officers when they met and that was incorporated into their wedding by using her officer's sword to cut the cake. I love details like this!And of course one of my favorite times of the evening are the first dances. Again with the wonderful smiles!

Biltmore Estate Styled Bridal Portrait

I just love being able to step outside of the norm and have some fun with a portrait session! Lindsay let me do just that. For her bridal session I brought in the expertise of Maura and Tara from The Darling Bee and the fabulous cakes by Tiffany's Baking Co. We started in the studio for a few traditional images that were timeless and beautiful, focusing on Lindsay and her Kenneth Pool dress and veil. They wanted an image similar to her grandmother's wedding portrait. From there, we went to play in the apple orchard! The blooms were just perfect! There was a storm the night before and I just knew the blooms would be gone, but there they were, just waiting for us.
It started to rain a little so we took off to the next location, Biltmore Estate. It was the perfect backdrop for the next staging. The open fields for the vintage picnic were beautiful. Sometimes the weather is just working against you so you have to find a way to make it happen. The wind was so strong at this point so we wrapped the veil around Lindsay and as you can see from the top image, it worked in our favor! She is absolutely stunning!!!!

Next area was the conservatory at Biltmore with the tulip festival. A perfect spot! As the rain started again, we went looking for cover because we had the sweet part left. Tiffany made the cutest miniature wedding cakes for the shoot. I wanted to bring Lindsay's love of cake decorating and baking into her session to personalize it. She is very talented herself!

Destination Engagement Session

One of the things I love about the photography business is getting to photograph new people and fantastic new places on a regular basis. I was very excited to photograph Leah and J.T.'s engagement session in Florida this past week. The engagement session is similar to the wedding day as to tell a story...of who you are as a couple and this time in your lives. Since they recently moved to Florida, that is where it took place. They love the water!

We met the next morning for sunrise. It was perfect!


Oh and their baby Sidney was a must have for some photos! Sidney is a Golden Receiver (not misspelled) as he is named after Sidney Rice, a wide receiver for the Game Cocks (J.T. is a HUGE fan). We had so much fun! And I just cannot wait for their wedding!
